Who We Are

Originally from Germany, Thomas “Tom” Proxa began writing songs at just eleven years old, armed with a piano, a cassette recorder, and plenty of curiosity. His first sequencer, the mighty GEM S3, sparked a lifelong fascination with sound and technology.

By the mid-90s, Tom was performing at London’s Makossa Club, collaborating with UNICEF on a Christmas project, and refining his songwriting craft. Around this time, he met David Walsh, who became both his co-writer and the voice behind most of his songs from 1995 to 1998. Together they released a three-track CD in 1997 and built a creative partnership that produced a lasting collection of melodic and heartfelt tracks.

A major influence on Tom’s musical path was Tony Moore (formerly of Cutting Crew and Iron Maiden), whom he met in 1987 shortly after Tony left Cutting Crew. Tony, founder of the legendary Kashmir Club in London, became both mentor and inspiration — teaching Tom the art of song structure and production. Tony also guided numerous artists, including Marie Claire D’Ubaldo, whose Falling Into You became a European hit before being recorded by Céline Dion. The track became the most popular song on Dion’s album of the same name — one of the best-selling albums of all time, with over 32 million copies sold worldwide.

Though Tom later found success in business, music remained his constant passion. For over 25 years, he’s continued to write, now embracing AI as a creative partner to turn ideas into music faster and more efficiently than ever.

His motto, “Music Always Speaks,” captures his belief that music says what words cannot — and it’s now the name of his label, M.A.S. Music Always Speaks.

Today, Tom and David Walsh are reuniting to revive their old material and craft new songs. With experience, humour, and an unshakable love of melody, Tom proves that true passion never fades — it just finds new ways to play.

(And yes, he’s still at the piano — though thankfully, the gear has gotten lighter since the GEM S3 days.)
